Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for transmitting a common signal. The method comprises: a first base station determining a first configuration used for sending a common signal; and the first base station sending the common signal according to the first configuration. By means of the method and apparatus for transmitting a common signal according to the embodiments of the present invention, a base station sends a common signal in a triggering node, the sending of the common signal can be more flexible, the overhead of sending the common signal can be reduced, the possibility of the interference of the common signal sending on a neighboring cell is reduced, thereby improving the user experience.
