The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for monitoring slope safety through matric suction measurement. The method comprises the steps of: modeling a slope as a monitoring object; obtaining measured matric suction values from a plurality of sensors installed in the ground of the modeled slope; setting a reference matric suction value of the ground in which the sensors are installed; and comparing the measured matric suction values obtained from the sensors with the reference matric suction value to obtain a matric suction comparison value, and determining a destruction risk of the slope according to the matric suction comparison value.
