A water battery which comprises a housing, and a battery cell provided inside the housing, and operates by injecting water into the housing during use. The battery cell comprises: a positive electrode that comprises a metal material having a lower ionisation tendency than magnesium; a positive electrode extraction electrode which is electrically connected to the positive electrode; a negative electrode which comprises a magnesium material; a negative electrode extraction electrode which is electrically connected to the negative electrode; a collector electrode which is provided between the positive electrode, and the negative electrode; a sheet material which is provided by being adhered to the collector electrode, and has a water absorption property, and a water retention property; and a fixing member which fixes the positive electrode, the collector electrode, the sheet material, and the negative electrode to one another by crimping. The sheet material includes an electrolyte which contains a nitrophenol, sodium, citric acid, and polyvinyl alcohol. |
