An educational electronic book (e-Book) facility that may be suitable for use in public school classrooms and many other environments may be based on an encapsulated HTML technology to facilitate complete interactive operation without use or risks associated with an external network connection, such as the Internet.

an interface to a communication API of the computing device; a communications channel that facilitates communication via the interface with an external device; and an enabled web browser having a send protocol translator adapted to translate commands and data in the electronic book into a series of external device-recognizable signals.
