[Class 136 (iii)] In a spring frame for motor and other cycles of the type comprising a pivoted fork 2 having its free ends connected to plates 7 mounted on the' wheel axle and adapted to move relatively to plates 8 on the main frame, the plates 7 have free or resiliently-counteracted longitudinal and lateral play relatively to the plates 8, whereby excessive stresses due to abnormal deformation of the parts under shocks are avoided. Each plate 7 passes through an aperture in the plate 8 with both transverse and longitudinal play, the plate 8 having flanges 9 to act as stops on excessive movement. The plates 7 are threaded over the wheel axle 10 and are secured to the fork arms 2 by screws 11, adjustment of the axle being effected by means of slots 20. The plates 7 have lateral cup-like extensions 16 in which are universally mounted balls 18 on washers 17 supporting coil springs 15, the upper ends of which engage bell-shaped'abutments 19 on the plates 8. |
