Method for updating a geological model using seismic data

The process involves simulating seismic velocity, in depth, permitting estimation of the thickness of seismic markers in depth and simulating an error in the simulation of the speed. A time conversion of seismic data simulated in depth is performed using interval velocity. The velocity is updated by comparing an observed time width to simulated time width, and the error simulation is modified. A geological model is set in coherence with the seismic data through the minimization of an objective function (OF). Petrophysical characteristics of an underground oil tank are predicted from the model.
