PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool in which when a gripping portion prohibited from gripping a tool is provided at a replacement position, mechanical interference generated by tool replacement can be prevented.SOLUTION: The machine tool has a magazine 31 and a control unit. A CPU of the control unit performs controls so that a main shaft head 2 is moved between a position in a processing region for the main shaft head 2 to process a work and an ATC origin position allowing the magazine 31 to convey gripping portions 4. Information about whether the respective gripping portions 4 grip either a standard tool t1 or a large-diameter tool t2 is stored in an EEPROM. The CPU determines whether or not a gripping portion 4, for which the EEPROM stores information that the portion 4 grips the large-diameter tool t2, is adjacent to a gripping portion 4 provided at a replacement position. When the determination result shows that both gripping portions are adjacent, the CPU 61 prohibits the main shaft head 2 from moving from the ATC origin position to the position within the processing region. |
