Described herein is a system including a patient support unit having a patient environment, a heating module, a sensor module, and a control system. The control system is configured to selectively operate the system in a pre-programmed warm-up mode configured to gradually warm the patient in the patient environment according to a series of stepped skin temperature increases performed over a series of stepped time durations to achieve a goal skin temperature. 1. A system, comprising:
a patient support unit having a patient environment; a heating module comprising a heater and a heating module controller operatively coupled to the heater, wherein the heater is configured to warm the patient environment; a sensor module comprising a skin temperature sensor and a skin temperature controller operatively coupled to the skin temperature sensor and to the heater, wherein the skin temperature sensor is configured to measure a skin temperature of a patient in the patient environment; and a control system comprising at least one processor, at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor and including at least one program stored thereon, and at least one input interface, wherein the control system is configured to selectively operate the system in a pre-programmed warm-up mode configured to gradually warm the patient in the patient environment according to a series of stepped skin temperature increases performed over a series of stepped time durations to achieve a goal skin temperature.
