1474680 Fire extinguishing installation CERBERUS AG 12 Nov 1975 [19 Dec 1974] 46786/75 Heading A5A A fire extinguishing installation comprises a plurality of fire sensors F distributed within a space and extinguishant distributor heads K spatially coordinated with the sensors and supplied with extinguishant through a pipe system, wherein the sensors F are connected via electrical leads to a control apparatus C, preferably a computer, which is arranged, on reception of a fire signal from a sensor, to open distributor head valves V electrically so that extinguishant is released from at least one of the heads adjacent the actuating fire sensor while the distributor head coordinate with the actuating fire sensor remains inactive. Preferably all the adjacent heads to an actuating sensor operate to form a ring of extinguishant release around the fire. The valves V are magnetic and may be two stage, those nearest the fire delivering more extinguishant than those less proximal. The sensors are preferably responsive to two different levels of fire conditions, e.g. temperature, smoke, combustion gases or flame. The control apparatus may be arranged to close the distributor heads on cessation of a fire signal and also operate a ventilation system to inhibit smoke dispersal. |
