<p>The present disclosure relates to a playback apparatus, a playback method, a program and a transmission apparatus for allowing for achieving a playback apparatus incorporating functions specified in CFR 47, Part 79. A playback apparatus of the present disclosure comprises: a reception unit for receiving IP-delivered content data and subtitle data; a content decode unit for generating content video signals on the basis of the content data; an input unit for inputting a user setting to select at least one of a display mode or a text frame with respect to the subtitle; a hold unit for holding the inputted user setting; a subtitle information analysis unit for separating the subtitle data in time sequence, thereby generating intermediate subtitle information in which the information of subtitle at each display timing is described; an update unit for overwriting and updating the intermediate subtitle information on the basis of the user setting; a subtitle video signal generation unit for generating subtitle video signals in accordance with the overwritten and updated intermediate subtitle information; and a combination unit for superimposing the subtitle video signals on the content video signals, thereby combining the former with the latter.</p> |
