PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce uneven streak occurring between recording/scanning operations due to displacement of a recording medium along the conveyance direction between a plurality of recording heads. SOLUTION: A first adjustment pattern is recorded on a recording medium by discharging ink from the nozzle arrays in first and second recording heads, a first adjustment value is calculated based on the measurement results in order to correct displacement of recording position in the conveyance direction between the first recording head and second recording head, a determination is made based on the first adjustment value nozzles in which range of the first and second recording heads is used for recording, ink is discharged from predetermined number of nozzles from the most upstream side in the conveyance direction in the first recording head and from predetermined number of nozzles from the most downstream side in the conveyance direction in the second recording head among the nozzles thus determined, a second adjustment pattern is recorded on a recording medium, a second adjustment value is calculated in order to correct the conveyance amount of the recording medium based on the measurement results, and the recording medium is conveyed by a corrected conveyance amount every time when recording/scanning operation is carried out.
