A rechargeable battery pack (1) comprises a plurality of individual flat cells (2). The flat cells (2) have a foil housing (3) in the case of which edges of the foil which rest against one another are designed as a sealing seam (4). The flat cells are mechanically held in a common housing (7). In order to simplify the design, provision is made for the foil housing (3) of the flat cells (2) to be provided with a retaining strip on at least one lateral sealing seam (4) and for apparatuses for accommodating the retaining strips to be arranged in the housing (7).
