The present invention provides an inverter including a unit power cell which can ensure more effective and stable operation. The inverter includes: a rectifying part which rectifies AC input voltages supplied through an input terminal into DC voltages; a smoothing part which makes the DC voltages, rectified in the rectifying part, be smooth; an inverter part which converts the DC voltages rectified into predetermined AC voltages; a short-circuit controlling part which short-circuits an output terminal of the inverter part when the DC voltages are not supplied to the rectifying part; and a sub-rectifying circuit which supplies the DC voltages supplied from the smoothing part to the short-circuit controlling part and rectifies the AC input voltages applied to an input terminal so as to supply the AC input voltages to the short-circuit controlling part when the DC voltages smoothed in the smoothing part is not supplied to the rectifying part. |
