<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device used for a projector, the light source device capable of detecting damage to an optical fiber without changing a color tone even during video projection.SOLUTION: The light source device comprises: a plurality of light sources; a group of optical fibers; a drive unit for driving the plurality of light sources; a sensor for receiving part of outgoing light from the group of optical fibers to detect the amount of the received light; and a determination unit for acquiring a signal corresponding to the amount of light detected by the sensor. The drive unit supplies a drive current to the plurality of light sources, and superposes, with prescribed timing, a first pulse current and a second pulse current of opposite polarity on a light source, among the plurality of light sources, which emits light of a color to be inspected. The determination unit determines the presence of abnormality in an optical fiber propagating light of the color to be inspected, the determination being made on the basis of a difference between the amount of light of the color to be inspected which is detected by the sensor under an amount of current of the drive current and the amount of light of the color to be inspected which is detected under an amount of current having the first pulse current or the second pulse current superposed thereon.</p> |
