PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contact between a rack of a rack shaft and a housing.SOLUTION: A steering device of the invention includes: a pinion shaft which has a pinion and rotates on the basis of steering conducted in a steering section; a rack shaft 21 which has a rack 21R that engages with the pinion of the pinion shaft and moves a steered section; and a rack housing 31 which houses the rack shaft 21. Relief grooves 70 which are recessed in a direction that separates from the rack 21R are formed in positions facing the rack 21R of the rack shaft 21 at the inner peripheral side of the rack housing 31R.
