PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a range of request driving torques which can be provided by a second electric motor.SOLUTION: Since an engine 14 is started using both a starter 38 and an electric motor MG, a power out of a main battery dischargeable power Woutm which can be used to output an EV traveling MG torque Tmev is large compared with a case where the engine 14 is started using the electric motor MG alone. Therefore, an EV travel area in which the electric motor MG is employed can be enlarged. When the sum of a request driving torque Tdtgt and a necessary start torque Tsreq is equal to or smaller than the sum of a maximum MG torque Tmmax, which can be outputted with the main battery dischargeable power, and a maximum starter torque Tstmax which can be outputted with a power fed from au auxiliary battery 50, the engine 14 is started using both the electric motor MG and starter 38. Therefore, starting performance of the engine 14 is properly ensured.
