PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a stretched optical film having a homogeneous orienting direction in a high precision.SOLUTION: The provided method for manufacturing a stretched optical film is a method for manufacturing a stretched optical film by stretching a long yet-to-be-stretched film via a tenter device where the tenter device is furnished with: a pair of guide components; an endless tenter chain possessing a gripper and mobile along the guide components; an inlet-side sprocket configured on the upstream-side edge of the tenter chain; and an outlet-side sprocket configured on the downstream-side edge of the tenter chain and control is executed on the basis of correlation information on the sum of the relative mobilization magnitude difference of the inlet-side sprocket and the relative mobilization magnitude difference of the outlet-side sprocket and the variation magnitude of the orienting direction.
