[Classes 51 (i) and 55(i)] A combustion zone is initiated in a constricted part 3 of the producer by a water cooled tuyere 9 and the gases pass downwardly and obliquely through the hot fuel to an outlet grid 24, the ashes passing to a grate 20 immediately below the tuyeres. The grate is formed in the upper part of a partition 17 and comprises a cylindrical portion 20 movable about a pivot 23 by a hand lever or mechanically, over curved surfaces 19 the ashes being swept through openings 21 into an ash pit 27. In modifications, the body of the producer may be formed with a water jacket which encloses the tuyere, or may have a refractory lining in the vicinity of its throat. |
