PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous determination in which even though an image obtained from an original image such as a document image is a chromatic color image, but it is determined to be an achromatic image.SOLUTION: A second image processing unit 31 of a computer 3 identifies the background color of a readout image G obtained by a second communication unit 34, classifies a pixel group forming the readout image G into background color pixels and non-background color pixels, determines whether a non-background color part G2 is a chromatic color or a non-chromatic color without using the color information of the background color pixels but using the color information of the non-background color pixels, determines the readout image G is a chromatic color image if it determined it is a chromatic color, and determines the readout image G is a non-chromatic image if it determined it is a non-chromatic color. |
