A latch eye for an excavator that decreases its weight and provides longer durability. The latch eye comprises two main parts, including a core and a shield coat comprised of a replacement kit made up of several parts. The parts of the replacement kit are fixed to the core. The core and the shield coat are made of quenched and tempered steel.
