The method involves removing a set of filtering panels (P1-P4) and adjacent rim portions having number and position determined based on geometry of a hopper (11c) to place angular free spaces between remaining panels. A filtering drum is lifted along direction of hopper prominent and opposite sides (11d, 11e). A kinematics including a controlled movement of combined clockwise and/or anti-clockwise rotation for lifting the drum, is applied to the drum. The kinematics and configuration of the drum are adapted to one another to make the drum to cross the hopper for extraction from the housing. The free spaces are separated. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for installing a filtering drum (2) an extraction system for a filtering drum.
