The purpose of the present invention is to enable cerebral dysfunction to be more effectively improved by more effectively imparting stimulation to the brain. In the present invention, provided is a head electrode (H) which is attached to a specific location at which stimulation can be imparted to the brain, without passing through the brainstem, at a region from the patient's neck to the top of his head. The specific position could be, for example, the temple, the forehead above the eye, the cheek part of the face, or the back of the neck. A weak current is applied by repeating a prescribed cycle. The prescribed cycle is formed by a first state in which the weak current is continuously applied for a certain period of time and a second state in which after the first state, the application of weak current of at least a certain period of time is suspended. The application of the weak current in the first state is gradually increased toward a prescribed current value, and then the weak current is maintained at the prescribed current value for an amount of time that is longer than the amount of time for which the weak current was gradually increased. The timings at which electric signals are applied to a plurality of head electrodes are set so as to begin synchronized and then gradually diverge, and then once again become synchronized at a constant cycle. For example, attaching a supplementary electrode (S) to the back and imparting stimulation to the brain through the spinal cord, as a peripheral nerve, becomes more effective. |
