Provided is a method for encoding a plurality of input images containing pieces of information that are related to each other. The method comprises: a step in which a motion image that indicates a change component that is included in a following input image is estimated from one or more preceding input images; a step in which a residual image is generated from the difference between the following input image and the estimated motion image; a step in which an area of the residual image in which a pixel value is to be defined by a remainder is identified on the basis of the pixel values of the residual image; a step in which a pixel value that is related to the identified area that is to be defined by a remainder is converted into a remainder; and a step in which the post-conversion residual image and additional information that identifies the area to be defined by a remainder are encoded.
