The purpose of the present invention is to provide a modified carbonyl reducing enzyme that modifies a wild type enzyme that loses reactivity in the presence of an organic solvent, and that has reactivity in the presence of an organic solvent that surpasses wild type enzymes. The present inventors discovered a modified carbonyl reducing enzyme with reactivity in the presence of an organic solvent that surpasses that of a wild type enzyme, from within a modified enzyme library where a mutation is randomly introduced into a wild type enzyme gene.
