<p>The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a liquid crystal composition with which both a low viscosity and a high nematic phase-isotropic liquid phase transition temperature (Tni) can be achieved; and a liquid crystal display element using said liquid crystal composition. Provided is a liquid crystal composition which is characterized by: including, as a first component, a compound represented by general formula (1), and, as a second component, at least one compound from the group consisting of compounds represented by general formula (2); and having a negative dielectric anisotropy. Also provided is a liquid crystal display element in which said liquid crystal composition is used. As a result of conducting strenuous research in order to solve the aforementioned problem, the inventors achieved the present invention by finding that both a low viscosity and a high Tni can be achieved by employing the liquid crystal composition including the compounds in general formula (1) and general formula (2).</p> |
