PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means capable, without elevating the concentration of an introduced solution, of enhancing the capacity of a forward osmotic apparatus by upping the efficiency of osmosis.SOLUTION: The problem-solving water treatment apparatus is a water treatment apparatus including: forward osmotic means for contacting, via a semi-permeable membrane, a liquid including water as a solvent and an introduced solution having an osmotic pressure higher than that of the liquid and then transferring, through the semi-permeable membrane, the water within the liquid into the introduced solution; freshwater separation means for separating freshwater from the diluted introduced solution obtained from the forward osmotic means and diluted with water; and introduced solution regeneration means for regenerating, from the diluted introduced solution from which the freshwater has been separated by the freshwater separation means, the introduced solution wherein compression means for intermittently compressing the liquid fed into the forward osmotic means and/or decompression means for intermittently decompressing the diluted introduced solution streaming out of the forward osmotic means is installed. |
