The present invention addresses the problem of ensuring both good cutting ability and blade tip strength in a cutting insert for milling cutters and of also being able to respond to requests for an increase in the number of usage corners, depending on the application. A cutting insert for milling cutters, comprising two facing polygon main surfaces and a plurality of side surfaces, and which uses as cutting blades ridgelines at positions at which the main surfaces and side surfaces intersect, whereby the main surfaces are the rake faces and the side surfaces are the flank faces. The cutting insert for milling cutters includes two mutually facing main side surfaces and a plurality of auxiliary side surfaces connected to the main side surfaces. The two main side surfaces have attachment holes formed in a direction that pierces both main side surfaces, and have a larger surface area than the main surface. Grooves along the entire cutting blade are provided in each of the main side surfaces and each of the auxiliary side surfaces.
