Access terminals are adapted to facilitate automated configuration of communications interfaces based on a current carrier identity. A modem configuration associated with the carrier identity may be selected by the processing circuit from modem configuration data (210) stored on a storage medium accessible by the processing circuit. The selected carrier-specific software configuration may then be activated by the processing circuit to configure a communications interface (206) of the access terminal to facilitate wireless communications with a carrier associated with the carrier identity.
