PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine that enables regulation to valve timing suitable for a temperature at start of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: At low temperature of an engine, first and second lock pins 28, 29 of a first lock mechanism 4a are inserted into first and second lock holes 24, 25 in an engageable manner so as to lock a vane rotor 9 in a first intermediate rotating position. At start of the engine at an ultralow temperature, high pressure of an accumulator 47 causes the first and second lock pins to immediately exit from the first and second lock holes for release, the vane rotor 9 is rotated in a second intermediate rotating position by using friction torque, and third and fourth lock pins 30, 31 are inserted into third and fourth lock holes 26, 27a in an engageable manner for lock. At idling stop, the fourth lock pin is inserted into a second hole part 27b of the fourth lock hole in an engageable manner so as to enable lock in the most timing delay position. |
