PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device allowing a plurality of colour reproduction modes with a simple configuration, and provide a projection video display device using the light source device.SOLUTION: The light source device comprises: a blue semiconductor laser 101 emitting light; a phosphor wheel 200 which is provided rotatably and includes a phosphor excited by light to emit fluorescent light; a colour trim wheel 300 which is provided rotatably, and removes some wavelength bands of the fluorescent light and has a region transmitting the light therethrough; and phase adjustment means which adjusts phases of the phosphor wheel and the colour trim wheel.
