[Class 12 (i)] A cage 5 for a ball or roller thrust bearing is contained within one of the bearing rings 1, with freedom of movement, by a sleeve 7 with flange 9, the sleeve being connected to the ring to form a self-contained unit. Ring 1 has a flange 6 to engage the large ends of the rollers 3. Sleeve 7 is a press fit within ring 1 and has one edge rolled into a groove 8 in the ring. The cage has tongues 4 with concave faces to house the rollers and has lubricant holes 12. The cage may be shaped to retain the balls or rollers without the aid of flange 6. |
