PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of wiring of a coating system. SOLUTION: The roll-to-roll type coating system 10 is provided with: a main control unit 12; and a coater 14. The coater 14 is provided with: a coating line 18 for applying a coating agent onto a base material F transported continuously; sensors 46, 50 provided to measure the transporting state of the base material F along the coating line 18; and a remote I/O 56 for collecting the measurement signal from the sensors 46, 50 and relaying it to a main control unit 12. The main control unit 12 is independently provided to separate from the coater 14, the remote I/O 56 is connected to the main control unit 12 through a communication wire 34, and the information showing the transporting state of the measured base material F is transmitted to the main control unit 12 through the communication wire 34 from the remote I/O 56.
