PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a climbing method and a climbing device, capable of reducing climbing time. SOLUTION: The climbing device 5 includes: a first lifting support 31 provided on a mast 3 so as to be liftable with a crane body 4; a second lifting support 32 and a third lifting support 33 liftably provided so as to be relatively displaceable to the first lifting support 31; a first lifting cylinder 35 connecting the first lifting support 31 to the second lifting support 32; and a second lifting cylinder 36 connecting the first lifting support 31 to the third lifting support 33. When climbing operation of lifting the crane body 4 is preformed by use of the climbing device 5, one lifting cylinder of the first lifting cylinder 35 and the second lifting cylinder 36 is extended simultaneously with contraction of the other lifting cylinder thereof.
