The cooling section has a cooling element with a frame structure (2) in which several transport rollers (3) for flat rolled metal is arranged in a transport direction (x) about a respective roller axis (4). The roller axis is orthogonal to the transport direction and runs horizontally so that the transport rollers have a pass line (5) for flat rolled metal. A guide section (9) has an upper closure element (10) that is arranged on a spray nozzle (11) by means of which the fed coolant in the base block (7) is sprayed from below on the flat rolled metal.
