Disclosed are a propulsion apparatus for a ship and a ship having the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the propulsion apparatus for a ship includes a rear propeller fixed on a rotation shaft; a front propeller supported by a rotation shaft of the rear propeller, with the ability to relatively rotate; a gear box having a built-in reverse gear unit including a solar gear to reverse and deliver the rotation of the rotation shaft, while being fixed and accommodated in a concave installation space, formed by the penetrated rotation shaft, in the stern; and a shaft connection member for connecting the solar gear with the rotation shaft to deliver the rotary force of the rotation shaft to the solar gear. The shaft connection member is connected with the solar gear in a spline shaft connection method in order to deliver the rotary force of the rotation shaft to the solar gear. |
