1. A method for managing a backup service gateway (SGW) associated with a primary SGW, the method comprising:
in response to a determination that the primary SGW has returned to operation, synchronizing user equipment (UE) session state information between the backup and primary SGWs for at least those UEs previously supported by the primary SGW; and in response to a revertive action trigger, creating a handover channel between the backup and primary SGWs to enable a transition of UE support from the backup SGW to the primary SGW.
