A method and an apparatus for transmission in a multiple input multiple output communication system are provided to transmit data efficiently by adaptively an antenna transmission method and a beam-forming method that uses a code book. A transmission method selector(402) calculates the capacity loss amounts of both first and second transmission methods depending on variables. The transmission method selection unit compares the capacity loss amount of the first transmission method with that of the second transmission method. A transmitter transmits a probing signal for channel estimation of a base station(400), and receives scheduling information from a base station. The data are transmitted according to the scheduling information. |
