PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas recirculation device capable of achieving both of suppression of overshoot or undershoot, and improvement of responsiveness without applying a load to a mechanical structure part relating to driving of a valve.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas recirculation device includes an exhaust gas circulation passage for making an intake passage of an internal combustion engine communicate with an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, an exhaust valve disposed at a downstream side with respect to a branch position from the exhaust passage to the exhaust gas circulation passage, and a control device for controlling an opening of the exhaust valve. The exhaust valve has a rotatable valve element for adjusting a flow rate of the exhaust gas, a valve shaft connected to the valve element and transmitting the rotating power to the valve element, and a seal material disposed around the valve shaft to air-tightly seal the exhaust passage. The control device determines whether an opening of the valve element or an estimated opening after a prescribed time satisfies a braking condition for braking the control of the valve element or not, and brakes the rotation of the valve element on the basis of an operation amount calculated by using proportional control rules when it is determined that the opening or the estimated opening satisfies the braking condition. |
