PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic device comprising a hydrogel lens that is designed to provide greater oxygen transmissibility and increased tear flowability to reduce the risk of damage to the cornea.SOLUTION: An ophthalmic device 10 includes a hydrogel lens 20. A peripheral zone 40 of the hydrogel lens includes a plurality of raised portions 50 on a surface of the lens proximal to an ocular surface. The raised portions are outside of an optic zone 30 of the hydrogel lens. The ophthalmic device further comprises gap portions 60 formed between adjacent raised portions. The gap portions allow oxygen transmission and tear flow.
