PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pin for a chain capable of improving abrasion resistance even under a use environment by a deteriorated oil.SOLUTION: Many pins are mixed and agitated together with a penetrant comprising chromium (Cr) powder and tungsten carbide (WC) powder, and with a particle mixture containing a catalyst of iron chloride (FeCl), to thereby allow WC particles to penetrate into the surface of the pins together with chromium carbide (CrC). Hereby, a chromium carbide layer (CrC-WC layer) in which WC particles are scattered in a CrC layer is generated on the outermost surface part of a steel used as a base metal for the pins. |
