PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-sensitivity photographing of an imaging device controllably by using additional information related to insertion and removal of an infrared shielding filter.SOLUTION: An imaging device that can be connected to a client device via a network comprises: an imaging optical system 2; an imaging element 6; an IRCF drive circuit 24 inserting/extracting an IRCF 4 to/from an optical path of the imaging optical system 2; a communication circuit 14 receiving from the client device an automatic insertion/extraction control command for making the imaging device automatically control the insertion/extraction of the IRCF 4 and additional information related to the insertion/extraction of the IRCF 4; and the communication circuit 14 transmitting to the client device operation information indicating in which case of a case where the IRCF 4 is inserted into the optical path, a case where the IRCF 4 is extracted from the optical path, and a case of both insertion and extraction, the imaging device uses the additional information received by the communication circuit 14.
