A power supply device comprises a first inverter for converting a first DC voltage to a first AC voltage and outputting the result and a second inverter for converting a second DC voltage to a second AC voltage synchronized with the first AC voltage and outputting the result, wherein the outputs of the first and second inverters are connected in series. The first (second) inverter has: a first (second) peak limiter circuit for, when a value corresponding to the output current reaches a first (second) limit value, not allowing a first (second) switching element to perform a switching operation and for, when the value corresponding to the output current is less than the first (second) limit value, allowing the first (second) switching element to perform the switching operation; and a first (second) control unit for increasing the first (second) limit value on the basis of the value corresponding to the output current and the increase of the first (second) DC voltage.
