An electronic circuit for use in computational decision making or control based on a using a hierarchical tree structure, including: a) a plurality of graphically displayed positions having operators movable to create outputs at linkage points and having inputs at linkage points; b) a plurality of graphically displayed arguments having operators movable to create outputs to associated position and having inputs at linkage points; c) a plurality of graphically displayed linkages connecting the linkage points of the positions and arguments, the linkages including two linkage types applying different functions to the outputs communicated by the linkages according to the linkage type, the hierarchical tree structure operating according to the steps of: a) sequentially selecting each of said position in said tree structure; b) calculating outputs for each selected position operator by accumulating and mathematically combining inputs from argument outputs associated with the positions; and c) adjusting a plurality of position operators and argument operators have related outputs for all other position operators after outputs for each selected position operator is calculated based on the functional relationships defined in the linkages to arrive at adjusted outputs for said other positions and arguments.
