According to one embodiment, a compression device includes: a storage unit, which stores dictionary information wherein first compression codes, which are assigned to multiple mutually different instances of text information, are associated with each of the multiple instances of text information; an acquisition unit which, when a first instance of text information of the multiple instances of text information is acquired, acquires from the dictionary information the first compression code associated with the first instance of text information; and a writing unit, which writes the acquired first compression code in a storage region where compression data is stored.
