PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of converting gray-level characteristics of input image data with high accuracy regardless of gray-level characteristics of the input image data.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus include: acquisition means which acquires input image data formed by converting imaging data captured by an imaging device, and a parameter indicating characteristics of non-linear conversion from the imaging data to the input image data; generation means which generates a lookup table for converting the input image data into display image data different in gray-level characteristics from the input image data; and conversion means which converts the input image data into the display image data by use of the lookup table generated by the generation means. The generation means determines a position of a lattice point of the lookup table on the basis of the parameter acquired by the acquisition means.
