<p>A compound of formula (I): wherein: A is a triazole or tetrazole; M is a group VIII transition metal element; each R1 and/or R2 is independently a substituent; p is 0, 1 , 2 or 3; q is 0, for 2; L, which may be the same or different in each occurrence, is a ligand; x is 0 or an integer; and y is at least 1. Preferably, M is iridium, A is 1,2,4-triazolyl and y is 3. More preferably, R1 and R2 are hydrocarbyl groups that affect the colour of the emission of the metal complex, such as C1-20 alkyl groups, phenyl substituted with 1 or more C1-20 alkyl groups or a branched or linear chain of 2 or more phenyl rings, each of which may be substituted with 1 or more C1-20 alkyl groups. Use of the compounds as phosphorescent emitters in an organic light-emitting device is disclosed.</p> |
