The present invention relates to a character conversion device used in a terminal and a method thereof. More specifically, the device and method used in the terminal to convert characters of an input word easily. Accordingly, the character conversion device of the terminal includes a control unit which sequentially converts the initial character among the characters of a specific word to an uppercase character or a lowercase word when the specific word is selected from the words inputted in an input mode then a conversion key is input, converts all of the characters in the specific word to uppercase characters, and converts all of the characters in the specific word to lowercase characters.
