PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving the results of intramolecular dehydration reactions of vicinal diol and producing conjugated diene in an industrially advantageous manner.SOLUTION: This invention provides a method of producing conjugated diene by the intramolecular dehydration of vicinal diol, in which pyrophosphate as a rare earth element is used as a catalyst.
