PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical lens which has a lens body having a light exit surface and a light incident surface and guides a light beam from a light-emitting diode to form a substantially elliptical beam shape.SOLUTION: An optical lens has a light exit surface which is a curved surface having a substantially elliptical projection surface with long and short axes. The long axis and short axis have length a and b, respectively, and the lens body has height c. The long axis length a, the short axis length b, and the lens height c satisfy the following relational expressions: 1<a/b≤1.67...(1), 2≤a/c≤6...(2). The optical lens can realize a light-emitting-diode backlight-light source, or generic illumination, which is extremely adaptive, allows for reducing the number of light-emitting diode chips used, and offers improved irradiation uniformity. |
