A head stack assembly includes an actuator arm with an opening part therein, a head suspension assembly including a load beam with a mounting region with an opening part therein, and a base plate which is adapted to attach the head suspension assembly to the actuator arm. The base plate includes a boss tower which includes an external surface and a swaging hole. One of the opening part of the actuator arm, the external surface of the boss tower or the swaging hole is non-circular to provide increased compression between the boss tower and the opening part of the actuator arm in a roll direction than in a pitch direction. Also, provided is a method for manufacturing the boss tower. |
